What this is
Thela Tools is a set of small, free utilities for the ordinary digital chores that get in the way of a day: shrinking a photo for an application form, fitting a signature into a box, merging two PDFs, working out an age from a date of birth.
It is built by Thela Labs and made for India, where the most common reason to reach for a tool like this is a form that wants a photograph under fifty kilobytes by Friday.
Why it runs on your device
Most free tool websites work by uploading your file to a server, processing it there, and giving you a link. That means your document — often an identity document — sits on someone else’s computer, and you have to trust their retention policy.
Everything here runs in your browser instead. It is faster on a poor connection, it works on a train, and it means there is no server that could leak your file, because no server ever had it.
The trade-off is honest to state: heavy jobs use your phone’s own processor, so a hundred-page PDF will take longer on a four-year-old handset than it would on a server farm. We think that is the right trade.
How it stays free
The intention is to fund the site with advertising, so that it can stay free and account-free for everyone. Advertising is not switched on yet. When it is, it will sit away from the buttons you actually need, in space that is already reserved in the layout, and our privacy page will say exactly what is loading and what it collects.
We do not sell data, and there is nothing to sell: the files never reach us.
Languages
The site is available in English and Hindi, including the settings, the help text and the error messages — not just the menus.

These tools stand on open-source work, used under their own licences:
- pdf-lib (MIT) — creating and editing PDF documents
- PDF.js (Apache-2.0) — rendering PDF pages to images
- fflate (MIT) — ZIP packaging
- qrcode-generator (MIT) — QR code encoding
